Beaches

There are six accessible beaches on Windward and four on Leeward.

A number of beaches including Cable and Windmill have firepits. A permit is required from the Fire Department for a bonfire.

You can reserve firepits and adjacent cabanas from the MWR Marina.

The loading docks at the NEX are a good source of wood pallets.

Hospital Cay and Phillips Park also have firepits.

You'll be required to extinguish the fire before leaving. Water is available in most locations but large buckets are a good idea to get the water to the firepit.

Hiking Trails

The Windward side of GTMO has nearly 10 miles of marked trails. The popular Ridgeline Trail offers elevated views of the base, Guantanamo Bay, and the surrounding hills of Cuba. The Hutia Highway Trail includes views of the Caribbean.

Limited, off-road parking is available at a number of trailheads including Tarawa Road and Skyline Drive.
